North Myrtle Beach

As its name implies, North Myrtle Beach is the northernmost of the Grand Strand communities in South Carolina. There’s no boardwalk here, making it significantly less commercial and more single home oriented.

Location

Main Street in North Myrtle Beach is approximately 15 miles north of the Myrtle Beach city center and 7 miles south of the North Carolina-South Carolina border.

Two bridges cross the Intracoastal Waterway into North Myrtle Beach. This is the point where Route 17 moves from the mainland onto the barrier island. A little further south, the Robert Edge Parkway brings traffic into town and becomes Main Street.

North Myrtle Beach is 18 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR). A smaller general aviation air field, Grand Strand Airport, is located along the Intracoastal Waterway in North Myrtle.
