Location
The town of Crested Butte is located in the Slate River valley in Gunnison County, Colorado. The ski resort is 2-3 miles north of town.
Access to the area from the south is by Colorado State Highway 135, which will take you to Gunnison. Snowmass and Aspen are a little over 20 miles north of here – but it’s a 200+ mile, four hour drive thanks to the mountains that separate the two popular ski destinations.
Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport is 30 miles south of the ski resort. Major airlines make daily flights in and out of here during the skiing season.
